This is a weekly snapshot of some of the things we will be learning
about in our classroom.
**Homework will resume this week. Everything should be able to get done in class. Anything coming home, wasn't completed during class time. We will have a regular Spelling test this Friday!**

Our Academics
Our class will be conducting an entire class book study for the remainder of the school year. We will be reading "Holes" and watching the movie afterwards to compare and contrast. We will be focusing on theme, character, plot, comparing and contrasting, imagery, figurative language, and much more!
Reading 5B
Students will be wrapping up their Narrative Essays by Friday of this week. We will end our school year by writing personal pieces: one to ourselves and one to the incoming fifth graders for next school year.
Writing
All fifth grade students will remain in their homeroom class the next two weeks for Math. This week we will be working on geometry, area, volume, and angles. Next week, we will be working tp solve multi step equations using various operations and strategies. We will break into small group centers and "teach" each other methods for solving problems.
Math 5B
We are continuing our study of air, weather, heat, conductivity, electricity, and more. This week we will be participating in Hands on activity that will test insulation materials and require us to hypothesize new ways to solve problems in pairs.

This week;s chapter is all about Living the Covenant. Today was also our first Family Life lesson.
Our final Social Studies project was assigned today. The writing portion will be done in the classroom. The float is to be completed at HOME. Due dates and rubric went home as well. We picked our states today and can't wait to parade them around before school is out.
